We’re starting to get busy with the horses now, with most of them just finished there 4-5 week roadwork regime, plenty are cantering on the new gallop which is proving most helpful. The most forward ones have done nearly a month of cantering and are now schooling plenty which there enjoying, horses such as –
VESTIGE who we plan to take to the early Black Forest Lodge meeting.
REPEAL which is another who is quite forward, who went on a farm ride on Sunday and learnt loads, we think Cottenham at the start January may suit him.
X KALANISI ( RIDGEWAY ) has been doing loads of steady work and although he is pretty forward fitness wise we are in no rush as yet for his debut maybe sometime in January.
HILLIER who is very well in himself has also done plenty of steady work and with a clean run may take his chance at either Chaddesley Christmas meeting or Sheriff Hutton, mid January.
Others who are not too far behind include SENSIBLE SIMPSON who has strengthened over the summer and OUR MICK who has been in a month and is a great addition to the yard and if we can rekindle his old spark should win races.
BRIGHT LIGHT who’s part of our racing club looks really well and is just finishing off her roadwork and will be cantering and schooling soon.
We are delighted to have the new 300m deep sand gallop up and running. It will be a great addition to the yard as the 10″ deep oval gallop helps us to get the horses steady work done all year round, regardless of the weather conditions.
The deep surface really makes the horses work but in a controlled and settled rhythm.
We have already started to use it and will be making great use of it over the coming months.
There’s certainly not been much spare time since the end of the Point to Point season.
As well as attending sales at Goffs, Doncaster and Ascot, we’ve been busy improving our facilities. Work is well underway putting in the gallop and water splash. It won’t be long now until we can start to make use of them.
We’ve had a number of breakers arrive from Dan Skelton’s, as well as some pre-trainers from Donald McCain. It’s great to be involved at this stage of a horse’s development and then follow its progress as its career develops.
We are really pleased with our own new arrivals and are confident that they can prove themselves when they run in the 2015/16 season.
