River Rider made an encouraging debut in a bumper at Warwick in April finishing 2nd to Jafimgoso who has since backed his form up going extremely close to a decent performer with a penalty the following run. The 4th horse at Warwick Nowmelad has now had two decent 2nds in novice hurdles and has been given an opening rating of 110.
River Rider is a proper chasing stamp of a horse and although is yet to mature properly physically we believe this is why he was value buying him at Doncaster in May and highly recommended by Tom Weston and Jack Tudor.
He travelled through his bumper with extreme ease and looked like the winner when straightening up he ran very green once given a squeeze but ultimately finished through the line well. He looks to have plenty of gears and a high travelling speed with scope to go jumping.
River Rider is currently at grass and been given time to mature he will commence training in August where we plan to probably start him in a maiden bumper in which he ought to take a bit of beating. He will be prepped schooling all autumn also and this will surely bring out some improvement as he goes jumping.
