The Season So Far

Having taken out the full licence in June of 2019, we started the current National Hunt season with fairly modest goals.

The objective was to build up a small string of nice horses ( and nice owners ! ) and try and get 3 or 4 winners on the board during the course of the season.

It is therefore very pleasing, and rewarding for our great team, to have already had 5 winners but we are realistic and know that things aren’t always going to go quite as smoothly!

Three of the wins have come from Sheneededtherun whom we bought at Doncaster sales last summer. Her wins have come at Newcastle, Southwell and Wetherby. We have a few options in mind for her next run which will most likely come towards the end of January. She is one of two horses in our racing club.

Jobsonfire won a Bangor On Dee point to point for us in the last pointing season and has stayed in the yard under new owners. He won for us last week at Doncaster and will run this Thursday, without a penalty, at Wetherby. He should go there with a decent chance of following up.

The second horse in our racing club is Out On The Tear who won recently at Uttoxeter and will be out again towards the end of this week. He holds entries at Doncaster on Friday and Uttoxeter on Saturday.

Racing clubs are a great way of people being able to enjoy the thrills and excitement of race horse ownership for a set monthly fee and without any unexpected costs.

Members of the Sam Allwood Racing Club have so far 4 wins and 2 places from 9 runs !

If anyone would like to become involved in this way, please give us a call.

In addition to our three winning horses, six others have run with two being placed. Many of them are horses who should enjoy good late spring / summer campaigns.

There has been plenty of work going on in and around the yard over recent months. A key addition has been the new gallop that went in in October. It is a straight gallop and is where the horses do most of their fast work. It’s an all-weather carpet surface, with a slight incline, which gives them a different type of fitness to the deep sand gallop.

We will be heading up to Doncaster sales on Wednesday. We will be looking at some specific lots for a couple of new owners, particularly with an eye towards summer jumping.

If you are interested in purchasing a horse to have with us, please give  Sam a call before Wed.

Thankyou to everyone for their support so far and we look forward to bringing you the next update.
